RRWCD Press Release

The Board of Directors of the Republican River Water Conservation District and its Enterprise met on December 10, 2025, at the Wray Cobblestone Inn & Suites to hold a Public Hearing on a potential change to the current fee structure used by RRWCD to assess fees for Republican River Compact Compliance.

The proposed change to the fee structure would base 50% of the fees derived from irrigated acres and 50% of the fees derived from water pumped.  The RRWCD Budget Committee reported on the way that the suggested change would be utilized to fund the required compact compliance activities of the District.  Local residents, in attendance, offered comments on the suggested changes.  After the close of the hearing, the Board met to deliberate on the proposed changes in the fee structure.

The outcome of those deliberations, going forward, is that RRWCD will use the 50/50 fee structure and calculate the pumping amount based on a four-year running average to allow the producers and the District to more reliably predict the pumping portion of the fee.  Start date and application details will be spelled out in a formal resolution of the Board that will be considered at the next regular meeting.
